When to start laser hair removal so you can forget about the razor by summer

The short answer: in autumn or early winter. Here’s why, and what the course looks like month by month.

Why the course takes months

The laser only affects hairs in the active growth phase, and at any moment only some of the hairs on the body are in it. The rest will “wake up” later – which is why sessions need a break of several weeks: usually 4 to 8, shorter for the face, longer for the body. The master will set the exact interval for your area.

There are usually 6–10 sessions. Simple arithmetic: even a short course of six sessions six weeks apart takes about seven months. So the question “when to start” really means “by which season do you want the result”.

Why autumn

The sun. For two weeks before a session and two weeks after you mustn’t tan or use a solarium: the laser reacts to pigment, and on tanned skin the treatment has to be done more cautiously or postponed. In a Tashkent summer it’s almost impossible to keep your arms, legs and face out of the sun. In autumn the tan fades, and the course goes to plan with no gaps.

Timing. If you start in October or November, the main part of the course is behind you by May–June – just in time for the season of open clothes, holidays and weddings.

Regrowth isn’t visible. Between sessions you can’t use wax, sugaring or an epilator – the laser needs the hair root in place, so shaving is the only option. Under autumn and winter clothes this period is much easier to get through.

What the course looks like month by month

An approximate schedule if you start in autumn:

– October – first session: the master looks at your skin and hair and chooses the settings. After 1–2 weeks the treated hairs start to fall out – that’s normal, don’t pull them out;
– November–December – second and third sessions: noticeably less hair, and what’s left is finer;
– January–March – the next sessions: you need the razor less and less;
– April–May – final sessions, if your area needs them;
– summer – you simply relax. Maintenance sessions are done later as needed, not on a schedule.

The schedule is approximate: the number of sessions and breaks depend on the area, the density and colour of the hair and hormones. At the first visit the master will tell you what to expect in your case.

What if I start in spring or summer?

You can. Underarms and bikini are hardly ever in the sun, so the tanning restriction doesn’t get in the way as much. But the course won’t be over by the coming summer, and exposed areas – arms, legs, face – will need protecting from the sun with SPF throughout. There’s nothing wrong with starting in spring: you’ll just be smooth by next summer rather than this one.

Laser, razor or sugaring

A razor – every day or two, irritation and ingrown hairs, and it never ends.
Wax and sugaring – every few weeks, painful, and the hair has to grow back before each treatment.
Laser – one course, after which there is many times less hair, and maintenance sessions are needed only occasionally. It’s a one-off investment, and you stop spending time and money on razors and waxing.

For reference: the XS package “Deep bikini + underarms” is 380 000 UZS per session, with a course pass from 323 000 UZS. All areas and packages are on the laser hair removal page and in the price list.

How to pay for the course in instalments

Course passes come for 3, 5, 7 and 9 sessions: the more sessions, the cheaper each one. You don’t have to pay the whole amount at once:

– 3 or 5 sessions – 50% at the first visit and 50% at the second;
– 7 or 9 sessions – one third each at the first, second and third visit.

Prices are the same for women and men. On your birthday – 10% off, from 5 days before to 5 days after.

How to prepare for the first session

– 1–2 days before, shave the area with a razor: the hair should be shaved off and the root left in the skin;
– for at least 2 weeks before the session – no wax, sugaring or epilator;
– 2 weeks before and after – no tanning, solarium or self-tan;
– on the day of the treatment – no creams, oils or deodorant on the area;
– if you take medication, especially retinoids or antibiotics, tell the master in advance.

Contraindications and aftercare are on the laser hair removal page.

How it works at Hide

We work with the Soprano Titanium diode laser with skin cooling: the handpiece cools the skin at the moment of the pulse, so the treatment is comfortable even in sensitive areas. The session takes place in a private room one-on-one with the master. The master adjusts the settings to your skin and will tell you honestly if the treatment is better postponed.

FAQ

When is the best time to start laser hair removal?

In autumn or early winter. A course is usually 6–10 sessions several weeks apart, so six months or more. Starting in October or November, you’ll complete the main part of the course by May–June, and during that time you won’t have to protect your skin from the summer sun.

Can I have laser hair removal in summer?

Yes, if the area isn’t tanned: for two weeks before and after a session you need to avoid tanning and the solarium. Underarms and bikini are treated in summer without problems, but arms, legs and face will need covering from the sun and SPF.

How long does a laser hair removal course take?

Usually 6–10 sessions 4 to 8 weeks apart: more often for the face, less often for the body. A course of six sessions takes about seven months. The exact number of sessions depends on the area, hair density and colour and hormones – the master will assess this at the first visit.

Can I shave between sessions?

Yes, and shaving only. Wax, sugaring and epilators are not allowed between sessions: they remove the hair with the root, and the laser needs the root in place.

How much does a laser hair removal course cost in Tashkent?

It depends on the areas: for example, the XS package “Deep bikini + underarms” is 380 000 UZS per session, with a course pass from 323 000 UZS. Passes for 3, 5, 7 and 9 sessions can be paid in instalments. All areas and packages are on the Prices page.
